Conformed deep oncologic hyperthermia caused by electromagnetic fields
Abstract
Concepts from physiological principles to quality assurance guidelines passing through key knowledge for hyperthermia treatment planning and assessment are reviewed. The information compiled in this paper is essential for the comprehension and critical review of papers about hyperthermia. This information is also useful to set up and the procedures for the daily work with a conformed deep oncologic hyperthermia unit which uses non-ionizing electromagnetic fields. In the content is included the explanation of the factors which justify the uncertainty levels in the results of hyperthermia treatment plans which are higher than those resulting from external radiotherapy treatment plans.
